Costco will sell its sewing machine cleaning business to Ed Edens Inc., according to the announcement Friday.
Costco is in talks with Edens, which manufactures machine cleaners for the home and commercial market, according to a statement.
Edens operates a network of nearly 500 service centers and has operations in more than 50 states, the company said in a statement Friday.
Eds’ operations in North America include cleaning homes and offices, where its products are sold at its retail stores, and retail and wholesale centers.
Ed’s operations include cleaning home, offices and retail outlets.
The company said the agreement will create a new, wholly owned subsidiary, edens.com.
Costcom’s announcement Friday did not give a dollar value for the deal.
Eden’s shares have dropped nearly 30% this year.
